Songwriting with Brian Doerksen this week!

I am so excited to get to spend time with Brian Doerksen and his family this week as they pass through Santa Cruz on their vacation.  Brian has taught me so much about worship leading and songwriting over the years, and I am honored to call him a friend.  Brian will be sharing some stories about worship leading this Wednesday night 7:30pm at Vintage Faith Church.  Don’t miss it.

Looking forward to leading with Rick at Saddleback Church this weekend!

Rick Muchow has been an inspiration to me for years now as a lead worshipper and somebody who lives out their faith in a genuine way.  I’m really excited to get to lead with him this weekend at Saddleback! God has used Saddleback in some amazing ways over the years.  Having started out with a small band of believers in so. Cal in the Warrens’ living room, this group of people understand what it looks like to believe God for big things, the greatest of these being the thousands of lives changed by Jesus through their message over the years.  Something cool is that Rick Warren has been a fan of Vintage Faith Church and Dan Kimball, endorsing books, and inviting musicians and artists from Vintage to partner with them for creative events.  I think it’s a cool thing that such a large influential church looks to encourage and support new churches doing things differently so that the timeless message of Jesus can be heard as clear and far as possible.  Saddleback Church here we come!

“SOMETIMES IT GOES UNSPOKEN”

Hey guys!  I wrote a 9/11 tribute song with my friend Hollis Oliver and wanted to share it with you all.  You can stream the song here, and i’ll have it up for free download by Sunday. I’d love to hear feedback!  Thanks!

Sometimes It Goes Unspoken  (click link to listen)

This song was originally inspired by my 1½ year old son London.  I walked into his room one morning while he was still asleep and was overwhelmed by the joy and full-hearted feeling of being a dad.  I brought the idea to my friend Ron, and we felt the song wanted to tell a larger story about the beauty of life and the honor of those who sacrifice for others.  Ron is a fire chief in Santa Cruz, and has experienced this first hand.  With the ten year anniversary of September 11th just around the corner, we hope the song is especially encouraging and inspiring to the families who’ve lost loved ones.  Their memories will never be left behind.

Produced by Alfonso Blanco and Josh Fox
Engineered by Alfonso Blanco
Musicians: Josh Fox (vocal, acoustic), Ben Patterson (piano), Brandon Stoppe (cello), Max Butler (pedal steel)

Looking forward to this weekend!

I’ll be leading at Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa Friday night with Jared Booye and Chuck Smith speaking!  Then, it’s off to Venture Church in Los Gatos with Chip Ingram!  Check the tour schedule for details.  I hope you can all make it out to one of these events and say hello if you do!
